In welcoming new families and returning ones, the PTA hosts an annual picnic to kick off the new school year. While the PTA provides the entertainment for the evening, families are encouraged to pack a picnic and a blanket.
The Fall Festival held annually in October offers Hampton families a casual setting to meet and socialize. The evening event includes games, crafts, food, music and a pumpkin carving contest. Plus, students will have the chance to make a final stop at the annual Fall Book Fair.
Family Fit Night
Family Fit night is an evening of fun and physical activities for students and parents using the school and other special equipment to stress the importance of staying healthy. Hosted indoors in the winter, the evening is full of games, fitness stations and healthy eating tips. No experience required and appropriate for ages 0 – 99!
Family Reading Night
This annual spring event celebrates the joy of reading with family. HES families gather around to hear local celebrities from our community read their favorite children’s books. Students are encouraged to come in pajamas and get settled in with cozy blankets. To promote continued reading at home, the night also hosts a book swap for the students. Families are also encouraged to bring books for donation to the Maryland Book Bank, a charitable organization that has distributed over 1.8 million free children’s books to families, teachers, schools, and organizations throughout Maryland.

Come join in on the fun at the Yard with HES families and friends! As part of a spring fundraiser, the PTA annually sells tickets to an Orioles game.
Scholastic Book Fairs
Each fall and spring, the PTA organizes annual Scholastic Book Fairs for the students. During school hours, each class visits the Book Fair and has the opportunity of purchasing books of their interest. In addition, each teacher publishes a Book Fair wish list providing families the opportunity to donate a book to enrich their child’s classroom library. A portion of the proceeds from the Book Fair will go to the PTA to support school activities.
Teacher Appreciation Week
To show our appreciation for the wonderful work of our great teachers, the PTA annually plans a week-long celebration for our HES teachers and staff. Activities may include a day of flowers, special notes from students and a PTA sponsored breakfast or lunch.
Commemorate your child’s birthday while helping our library collection continue to grow. Participation in the program involves a $18.00 donation per book (per child). During the month of your child’s birthday, he/she will get to choose a new book from a selection of wonderful books that have already been purchased for this program.
Cultural Arts Assemblies
The PTA sponsors various school assemblies throughout the year that provide cultural enrichment for our students. PTA support of the assemblies include logistical coordination and funding of the programs. Past assemblies have included a Chinese acrobat performance, a Black History Month laser light show and the Maryland Agricultural Mobile Science Lab.
Dolphin Depot School Store
The Dolphin Depot is the school store. It is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:50 -9:10 a.m. The PTA manages the overall operation and budget for the school store and provides 5 th grade students with an opportunity to volunteer as workers and gain an understanding of the importance of customer service and smart business operations. Students can purchase novelty school supplies and HES items in the range of .10 ¢ to $1.50. Proceeds go to the PTA to support ongoing activities.
Finer Diner is a special treat awarded to a grade displaying exceptional cafeteria behavior. The grade awarded with the honors celebrates by having lunch in a special area (outside weather permitting) and is given a special ice cream treat provided for by the PTA.
Joy of Reading
A reading assistance program provided by PTA volunteers who work in partnership with HES teachers in identifying students who would benefit from extra reading time. This program is offered weekly in the school. Volunteers work one-on- one with emerging readers.
Reflections is a National PTA Arts Program that provides students opportunities to express themselves creatively by creating original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme. Winners from six categories are selected at Hampton ES, Baltimore County, State, and National Levels. Selected entries are advanced to these subsequent levels.
Spirit of Hampton
To help outfit classrooms with needed supplies throughout the year, the PTA maintains a teacher “wish list” of items that he/she believes will most contribute to a better learning experience for our students. Through the Spirit of Hampton program, parents, friends and community partners are encouraged to donate or purchase desired supplies.
Clip those Box Tops! The PTA provides the school with a Box Tops Coordinator who collects all the Box Tops and mails them in so our school can get cash! Each collected Box Top earns the school .10 ¢. Checks are mailed to HES twice a year in December and April.
The PTA coordinates volunteers to help out in the cafeteria during school lunch times. Volunteers are needed to promote efficient use of students’ lunch time and safe student behavior.
Room Parent Coordinators
The PTA coordinates Room Parents for each classroom to support the teacher throughout the year. Room Parent activities may include holiday party preparation, classroom activity assistance and photocopying.
The PTA coordinates events and activities designed to nurture students in becoming good citizens through service in the community. Examples include the HES Fall Food Drive and the Valentine Exchange with The Maples of Towson Assistance Living Center.
Monthly School Calendar
The PTA provides a monthly calendar of combined school and PTA events and reminders. The monthly calendar is distributed through student school folders and may be found online at the PTA website.
Parent Education/ Special Education Advocacy
The PTA arranges for and hosts special programs for parents, students and the community. Programs in the past have included an internet safety awareness class and a speaker-led discussion on preparing your student for academic success.
