The Hampton Elementary PTA offers a variety of great events and programs that enrich the school’s educational environment and bring together our community. We encourage you to check out the programs and volunteer opportunities below and consider how you can help. Join a committee, or head up one! Commit to an ongoing program, or pitch in during an annual event. Whether you have just a little time or a lot, every bit helps make our school the best it can be. Involved families are critical to maintaining and enhancing the excellent education that we want and expect for our children. Ongoing Programming

  • After-School Activities
    • Act as liaison to the local rec council representative for Before & After School Activities. Distribute registration flyers to all students. Want to find out more? Contact: Jessie Jaeger (
  • Community Outreach
    • Volunteer for events and activities designed to nurture students in becoming good citizens through service in the community.  Want to find out more? Contact: Lisa Swoboda (
  • Cultural Arts
    • Coordinate 6-8 school assemblies a year to enrich the educational experience for students.  Want to find out more? Contact: Melissa Rodola (
  • Finer Diner
    • Assist students and distribute ice cream at monthly Finer Diner events—a class gets to eat lunch picnic-style with parents and other visitors as a reward for good behavior.  Want to find out more? Contact: Michelle Damareck (
  • Green School/Outdoor Classroom
    • Work with school staff and students to maintain “green school” status; help plan and staff annual Green School Celebration. Want to find out more? Contact: Jessie Jaeger (
  • Hospitality
    • Organize teacher lunches and goodies for monthly faculty meetings; coordinate hospitality tables for events including American Education Week and kindergarten registration.  Want to find out more? Contact: Emily Schultz ( and Amy Harrison (
  • Joy of Reading
    • Volunteer to read to Hampton students identified by teachers as children who need this type of academic enrichment. Reading activity happens during lunch at school. Contact: Michelle Damareck (
  • Parent Ed/Special Ed Liason
    • Circulate information on workshops and speakers at nearby venues; future responsibilities include coordinating events at HES. Serve as a resource for families and teachers with students who have special needs; circulate information regarding special education resources.
  • Room Parent Coordinator

  • Volunteer Coordinator

  • Wellness Committee
    • Contribute healthy content for monthly PTA newsletter. Ideas include family exercise, menu recommendation and health tips.

  • Student Directory
    • Prepare flyer requesting contact information from families who want to be included in the Hampton Student Directory; compile directory using family-submitted data; coordinate 5th grad cover design contest; complete electronic version by 10/5 and send to BCPS printer; coordinate distribution of directory to students.   • Fall Festival

  • Family Reading Night

  • Fifth Grade Farewell, Field Day & Gift

    • Field Day & Gift: Design and order 5th-grade T-shirts; plan and run field day, including game stations, snacks, and group picture; order 5th-grade gifts and arrange them on provided table prior to the farewell ceremony.  Want to find out more?   • Welcome Packet Coordinator

  • Orioles Fun Day
    • Ticket-based Fun-raising program. Work with contacts at the Baltimore Orioles Group Sales office to select dates that do not conflict with other PTA or school-wide events; prepare flyers to be sent out 6-8 weeks prior to event date; coordinate ticket sales to HES families.   • Reflections
    • Organize Hampton submissions for county-wide art competition.
  • Spirit of Hampton

  • Teacher Appreciation Week

  • Trivia Night
    • Trivia Night: Coordinate annual adults-only trivia fundraiser held in November, planned and staffed by volunteers. Solicit and coordinate prize donations.
